Silence in the car

“Own property in Cyprus!” the billboard read. The image of a large beautiful villa overlooking the Mediterranean – with its sleek design and lavish garage space couldn’t miss many eyes. Greenery was everywhere. In the picture, that is.

More such advertisements gobbled up road-side space on the Dubai-Sharjah highway. The words “own”, “buy”, and “sell” glared at the people seated in their cars.

“Who even falls for this stuff? It’s a sham, really.” Dad said.

“Hmm… I suppose so.”

Nobody talks in the car. Small talk is all that happens. Even that, propelled by ads on the streets.
